COVID-19 is striking again! Wondering what to do at home during that challenging time? Learn something new and interesting. We suggest to join our november webinars and get a free a practical and free online webinar and understand more about LoRa and LPWAN. The webinar will build up
What is LoRa?
LoRa is not a woman’s name (though no wonder it comes from there), but is an acronym for Long Range – wide (large) range. Free long-range data transmission technology based on old military technologies.
The signals sent via LoRa are exceptionally well protected from noise and even with a low transmitting power. Therefore they cover great distances of more than 10 km. This makes LoRa extremely suitable for applications where network communication is required, power supply is lacking and end devices need to run on batteries.
Where is it applicable?
The technology finds a wide range of applications in various IoT (Internet of Things) areas such as:
- Sensor networks
- Remote reading
- Object Tracking
- Security and perimeter control
It is suitable for industries like:
- Smart city (smart buckets, smart toilets, smart coffee machines, smart parking lots all smart)
- Utilities sector (remote sensing and remote sensing)
LoRa works in a free radio spectrum. Thus it is ideal for hobbyists and people who just want to install a sensor at home or in the villa to monitor the meter.
What will we learn about her?
The course is suitable for people who do not have a broad knowledge of telecommunications or radio networks.
- Basic concepts of radio networks
- What is LoRa and LoRaWAN
- Device Types, Network Architecture, Protocol messages
- What is LoRaWAN Gateway
- Models of implementation
After completing the webinar each participant will know
- Basics of radio transmission
- What is LoRa and LPWAN
- LoRaWAN architecture of the network and its main elements
- Main types of messages and which ones are good to use
- How to apply technology
Who will be the speaker?
Nikolay Milovanov – Product Manager at ThingsLog, will deliver the course. Nikolay is an engineer with over 17 years of experience in telecom, network monitoring solutions and software technologies.
Prior to ThingsLog, Nikolay held various engineering positions at companies such as Globul / Telenor, Deutsche Telecom, Intracom Telcom, SevOne, Comptel and Nokia. He has worked as a consultant for Deloitte and BMW. For the last 8 years, Nikolay has also been a lecturer in Network and Software Technology at New Bulgarian University.
Free online training will be held over zoom on
Thursday 12th of November 2020 at 15:00 UTC
For whom is it appropriate?
The course would be useful to a broad audience of people such as:
- Utility professionals
- Public sector professionals
- Facility managers
- IT people
- Telecom and network engineers
Last but not least, the course would also work for people with IoT as a hobby and an internal need to learn something new that is not directly related to their daily work.
